The reason for this increasing "discontent" was the transformation of the traumatic past into a political and economic bargaining. "The Holocaust industry", the fierce competition for victim status, attachment to painful feelings of guilt - the most visible manifestations of how modern forms of cultural memory. Partially recognizing the validity of the positions of their opponents, Aleida Assman is trying to build such a memorial perspective in which the responsibility for the crimes committed, ethical, a willingness to share the guilt and the legal framework within which to hear the voices of the victims, turned work with the past in one of the important factors of the conscious movement towards the future.
